We all love a good barbecue—usually, the food is phenomenal, the drinks are great, and the company is even better. But what if you know almost no one at the event? What if no one knows anyone else? Well, we’d like to think that you have a great opportunity to make new friendships and create new bonds with people that you would’ve likely never met. So we say, “go to the barbecue.” What’s the harm? Even if you don’t have a good time, you’ll likely get free food and drinks.

Last month, we hosted a community barbecue for the current home and lot owners at Arbor Creek and lucky for us, that “even if…” statement never came into play. We could not have asked for a better turnout.

Rain, Rain, Go Away…

All week leading up the barbecue, we had our eyes on the radar, watching the impending doom of getting rained out. Each day it seemed that the precipitation percentage wavered between 40 and 60 percent, giving us absolutely no idea what to expect. Nevertheless, we had to make a decision—we chose to tough it out.

Fortunately, by Thursday evening all chances of rain Friday afternoon were zero. This was just about the only time our competitive spirited Community Manager, Chris Lary-Cowel, has celebrated a goose egg.

Here they Come!

Right on time, Arbor Creek homeowners made their way down the cul-de-sac, chairs and readiness for a good time in tow! And what a good time we had! The burgers were on the grill. The drinks were chilled. The yard games were ready.

As the evening went on and our bellies became full, the residents ventured out to talk to some of their neighbors they had not yet met. Some broke off in groups, some sat in a big circle, and some laughed with each other as they played cornhole and giant Jenga. You could feel the sense of community growing! We may be a little biased, but Arbor Creek already has the best residents. They were all eager to talk with one another, meet some of our staff, and even start planning future community barbecues to keep the party going year after year.

That’s What it is All About.

This is why we do what we do. Our company creates neighborhoods that turn into communities; where you love the people you live next to; where your kids meet their best friends. We develop each one of our subdivisions with family and friends in mind, constantly considering “what would we love in our own neighborhoods?” and “how can we make our residents feel safe, secure, and at home after moving in?” We love taking a piece of land, adding all of these moving parts and people, and merging them together to create a family.
